There has been a lot of concern about vector borne diseases like Zika in India. With rising temperatures, the risk of spread increases. While this is not life threatening like Dengue and Chikungunya, it does carry extreme danger for antenatal mothers and their babies. Malaria eradication has been high on the agenda of health ministries. Unfortunately, instead of focusing on improving health access and provision of early treatment, there have been multiple debates on what elements of health should be given priority. Shouldn’t we be trying to improve healthcare parameters across a gamut of conditions, instead of trying to operate in silos?
